Easter Bunny Cake | Beach Cities Moms

We made this cake with my mom every Easter growing up, so I was very excited to continue this tradition with my own daughters.  This cake is so easy, requires minimal ingredients, and is just so darn cute.  Feel free to decorate as you choose or follow exactly as I did below!

  • 1 box cake mix + add-ins it calls for on the box (usually oil and eggs), or use your favorite recipe
  • 1 16 oz container white frosting, or use your favorite recipe
  • 1 tube pink frosting
  • 1 skinny tube black frosting
  • Jellybeans or sprinkles

  1. Prepare cake according to directions on the box and bake using two 8- or 9-inch round cake pans. (Or if using one pan, bake half the batter two separate times).Allow cake to cool completely.
  2. Place one of the cake rounds onto a serving platter (or use a large baking sheet) positioned to be the head of the bunny.
  3. Cut 2 identical convex shaped ears from the second cake, leaving a bow-tie shape in the center (see image below).
  4. Position the convex shapes on either side of the head to create ears and position the bowtie at the bottom.
  5. Frost entire cake (head, ears, and bowtie) with white frosting.
  6. Decorate using the pink frosting to create the center of the ears and the nose, the black frosting to make the eyes and whiskers, and the jellybeans or sprinkles for the bowtie.
