My Cold Weather Skincare Saviors - Beach Cities Moms

Our family spent Christmas back on the East Coast, specifically in Cape Cod. It was magical and wonderful and….SO FREAKIN COLD. It took less than 24 hours for my skin to be reminded just what the dry, cold air can do, and I was so grateful I had packed my tried and true skin fixer uppers.

For the decade I spent living in New York, I walked to and from work every day, about 1 hour total. In the winter months, that meant exposing my skin to the bitter elements A LOT. I became an expert on what products kept my skin protected and hydrated, day in and day out. Read on for my winter must haves!

Eve Lom Kiss Mix – Probably the first place you notice the dry weather affecting your skin is on your lips. There are a bazillion lip products out there but British brand Eve Lom has an amazing balm that I keep going back to. The Kiss Mix checks all 3 boxes I look for in a balm – it’s hydrating and quickly heals chapped lips, it has a nice fresh (but understated) minty scent, and it has a subtle glossy sheen, so can be worn alone as a lip product and give you just a little bit of va-va-voom for work or a night out. It also comes in tinted colors – even better!

L’Occitane 20% Shea Butter Hand Cream – I could write an entire article about all the hand creams I love and why (among my favorites – Supergoop! Forever Young Hand Cream ). But for cold, chapped, dry winter hands, I will never use anything other than L’Occitane. Honestly, I just don’t think most hand creams actually work for the most dire of skin needs. I don’t want to have to apply 12 times a day to feel like it’s working. This one works SO WELL and SO QUICKLY that it’s an easy choice.

Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Cream icon – Ceramidin, the main ingredient in the miracle cream, works by strengthening your skin’s natural barrier, so you’re better protected from the elements and skin stays hydrated and plump. Of all the skincare products that rotate constantly through my daily lineup (after all, how can I honestly tell you what stuff is best unless I TRY EVERYTHING.…), Dr Jart’s Ceramidin Cream has been my winter staple for years. Whether your skin overall get dry and cracked, or, as in my case, just certain areas (my chin, for some reason), this product works wonders.

Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream – One of my favorite products from one of my favorite brands. This is a winter nighttime staple for me. First of all, the packaging is so cute you can hardly resist it. But beyond that, Lala Retro works by restoring damaged skin and locking in moisture to provide long lasting hydration. I use it after serum and before night cream every night before bed. My skin is visibly more plump and hydrated in the morning when I use it versus when I don’t.

Juara Candlenut Body Creme icon – Don’t forget your bod! Juara’s Body Creme smells AMAZING, which I think is the main reason most people buy it. But the reason I find it so amazing is that it works wonders for dry skin. Legs and arms can get especially dry in winter, so slathering this onto damp skin after showering quickly prevents that gross “fish scale” lewk that skin is prone to in winter.

What are your dry skin saviors? What do I need to try? Share in the comments and STAY WARM OUT THERE KIDS!
